Mustang Tour, a wonderful trip to the mystical Himalayan land

Mustang is the Tibetan word meaning “Plain of Aspiration”. Mustang, also known as “Land beyond Himalayas”, is located in the Kali Gandaki valley of the Himalayan region of the Western Nepal. Tour to this land takes you to the home of mystical landscape, ancient Buddhist culture and the best views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), world’s 7th highest mountain of the world and Mt. Annapurna (8091m), world’s 10th highest mountain of the world. The distance from Kathmandu to Mustang is around 372 km, and can be reached by both air and land. Passing through the diverse landscape of Kali Gandaki valley, the deepest gorge in the world, you come across important places like Jomsom, Marpha, Kagbeni and Muktinath. From awe-inspiring natural scenery & majestic Himalayan views to lifestyle, culture and tradition of Thakali people and holy pilgrimage site of Muktinath, Mustang trip is sure to offer you with wonders and surprises you can’t find elsewhere.

 

Mustang Tour Itinerary:

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Beni, explore Beni Bazar. Overnight at Beni

Day 02: Drive to Jomsom, visit to Marpha/Kagbeni or explore Thakali community and do apple shopping. Dhumba Lake is approximately 5.5km from Jomsom and takes 2 hours to hike Overnight at Jomsom

Day 03: Drive to Muktinath, visit Muktinath temple and visit other nearby temples. Drive back to Lete. Overnight at Lete

Day 04: Drive to Pokhara, relax and enjoy the nightlife. Overnight at Pokhara

Day 05: Drive back to Kathmandu

Or, you can fly to Pokhara and catch a flight to Jomsom the next day.

You will depart from Kathmandu early in the morning and ride for about 11/12 hours via Malekhu, Mugling, Bandipur, Pokhara, Kushma, Baglung to reach Beni. (Or, you can simply fly to Pokhara and then catch a flight to Jomsom the next day). Next day you will drive to Jomsom and on the way you can visit Marpha village also known as “the orchard of apples”. After reaching Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang, you will hike from for around 5.5 km to visit Dumba Lake. Dumba Lake is a beautiful and clear lake situated at the base of Mt. Nilgiri. Dhumba Lake is a sacred Buddhist Lake, where you can find main walls and chortens by the lake. After exploring Dumba Lake, you will hike back to Jomsom. Next morning you will drive to Muktinath temple and do some sight visiting. Muktinath Temple, located at the altitude of 3710 m, is one of the most scared pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is also one of the oldest temples of Lord Vishnu. After visiting Muktinath, you will drive back to Lete and next day you will drive back to Pokhara via Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Temple. On the last day of the tour, you will drive back to Kathmandu.
