Chitlang is a village located in Thaha Municipality of Makwanpur district, just 22 km southwest of Kathmandu. It is famous for agriculture and vegetable farming. Chitlang is a perfect mixture of ancient history and natural beauty. Chitlang is the oldest road that connects the two giant neighbors India and China. It was an ancient trade route to Kathmandu. It is the best nearby place from Kathmandu to enjoy Newari culture and to do exciting activities like horse riding, goat cheese tour, village cycling tour, camping etc.
There are two ways to visit Chitlang. At first you can drive and secondly, you can hike from Chandragiri to Chitlang. While hiking, you will experience the astonishing Himalayan ranges of Mt. Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Mt. Manslu and Mt Everest. Chitlang is a typical Nepali mid-hill village encircled by hills and filled with vegetables patches and rice fields. At Chitlang, you can explore Newari settlement, taste goat milk and cheese, taste local wine (pear wine, nettle wine), hike and go for bird watching & trout farming.
ITINERARY:
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Chitlang. Arrive at Organic Village Resort and explore the resort area and surrounding environment. Overnight at the resort, Chitlang
Day 02: Sightseeing tour at Goat cheese factory, Saat Dhara & Maajhgaun. Drive to Kulekhani for boating and sightseeing. Return back to Kathmandu
You will depart from Kathmandu early in the morning and ride for around 2 hours via Kalimati, Thankot, Chandragiri to reach Chitlang. After reaching Chitlang, you will stay at Organic Village Resort. After resting for some time, you will explore the nearby surrounding. Next day, you will set out for sightseeing tour at Goat cheese factory, Saat Dhara & Maajhgaun. After exploring the Chitlang village, you will drive to Khulekhani and do some boating and sightseeing. Then you will return Kathmandu via Dakshinkali, Pharphing, Kirtipur and Balkhu.
